The art of the reissue is something that seems to be becoming more and more appreciated these days. Maybe it’s due to the fact that most of the music we have is in the form of ones and zeros that live on our computers and phones. The resurgence of beautifully packaged vinyl, and making old artists available to new audiences is gaining momentum however, and Amir Abdullah and his label are at the forefront of that movement.

Last month Robert Moog was inducted into the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s National Inventors Hall of Fame. Best known for his work in musical synthesis, Moog created instruments that helped define genres and push musical limitations. This piece is a way of thanking Moog for his impact.

One method in particular has adopted the old mixtape model of trading and sharing music communally. One aspect no one could have predicted however,  was to actually bring the physical cassette back. Cassette Culture explores one of the communities behind the production of cassette tapes and the physicality of music in the digital age.
